HEADING UP THE HILL:

  1. Walk don’t run. Especially if it is steep, you are better taking it step by step, navigating the slippery parts by walking if need be.

  2. Shorten your strid. Keep the long strides for the downhills

  3. Watch your footing. Keep your site 1m ahead of you, so you know where to step next.

  4. Pace yourself, so you don’t burn out too quick. Save your speed for the downhill and flats.

  5. Take a moment to enjoy the view and appreciate your acheivement at the top.

IT’S TIME TO HEAD BACK DOWN:

  1. Locate the firmer ground. Alway go for the smooth rock formations over the loose gravel.

  2. If it looks slippery, turn your body sideways, and sidestep your way down. This will help you stop sliding.

  3. Take it slowly. Look ahead to find the best route possible.

  4. Stay low to the ground. Bend your knees, widen your stance, and take one step at a time.

  5. More often than not, the edges of the trail are more compact and less slippery. If you can, take the outside of the path rather than the centre.

Worse case, i you do fall on your butt, enjoy the ride down , get back up and dust yourself off.
